====== The Mukhtar of Fist ====== Fist has two major peoples within its borders Qatrum and Babrem. Together#1|(1) they call themselves the Mukhtar(plural & sing) which means “the chosen” in Qadir, their native language. See mythology for details.

The Mukhtar live in large self sufficient cities. Cities that could not exist in the arid desert environment if it weren’t for three things; Mukhtar’s organized, efficient society, copious divine magic, and the knowledge/technology taught by Hlark(see mythology#Statue of Light).

Fiercely faithfull. They value power, group strength, duty, community, and honor. Are strongly Lawfull, militaristic, and industrious. Their entire purpose of being revolves around preparing for a great war which Hlark told them would come.

====== Conflict ====== ==== Weapons ==== The typical dagger is curved and treated as a kukri(except it’s a simple weapon for Qatrum and Babrem)

Ranseur, Glaive, spear, javelin, and sling are the weapons typically used by the masses.

Paladins and other warriors favor scimitars, maces, hammers, picks, and lances. Two handed weapons are less common as the shield is seen as important part of ones defense. But double-scimitars, falchions, glaives, and ranseurs are used.

Ranged weapons are not used by Paladins and infrequently by other warriors. Common troops use javelins and slings And Babrem are experts with the composite longbow.

The curved blades of fist’s weaponsmiths are famous throughout the Known World.

==== Armor ==== Heavy armors are not favored in the hot arid environments of Fist.

Chainmail is a specialty of their armorsmiths and by far the finest examples are made in Fist. Scale, and studded leather are common amongst those who can’t afford chain. Paladins and heavy calvary wear half-plate.

Heavy metal round shields are common, as are lighter metal shields. Wood is too precious to waste on a shield. But metal is expensive so bone and hide is used as a substitute.

Helmets are conical to a point or round “bob”. Common attachments include nose guards, chainmail pieces. Many wrap a turban around outside their helmets.

===== Caste system ===== Fist society is divided into castes. One is not necessarly born into the caste of their parents. But once established it is rare for an individual to change castes. Castes don’t limit whom you can associate with, marry. They’re more about what you do to prepare for the Great Battle. In some ways they are like guilds.

=== Cleric Caste === Ruling caste.

=== Warrior Caste === Includes paladins and full time soldiers.

=== Provider Caste === Farmers, miners, gatherers and others who provide the resources needed to make Fist strong.

=== Builder Caste === Crafters, builders, smiths and the like. Those who build/create civilization.

=== Outsider Caste === Foriegners and the faithless who aren’t, yet, worth the trouble of obliteration.

===== Abominations ===== Many things are abhorent to Hlark. Clerics, paladins and soldiers of fist endeavour to obliterate them. “Obliterate” has specific and nuanced meaning to the Mukhtar. It is more than just killing or destroying. Closer to driving from all existance.

====== Footnotes ====== == 1 == Some Babrem do not follow the religion of the Mukhtar. A few activly oppose it. The Babrem who are Mukhtar largely have adopted Qatrum culture as detailed in here. The Babrem who keep traditional nomad lifestyle are different and detailed elsewhere.
